We love to BBQ at Oven Loving, so here is a Recipe for August we would love to share.
At Oven Loving we are always looking out for an easy and tasty recipe to try.
It’s a great idea to cook chicken in the oven prior to giving it the final ‘finish’ on your barbecue for that smoky flavour! At least that way you will know you’ve cooked the chicken all the way through.
So, cook the chicken as you would in your kitchen oven but then 20 minutes before the end add extra sauce and put on the BBQ continuing to baste and flip over so it doesn’t burn.
Oven Loving Sweet Sticky BBQ Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:
- 2 pounds bone-in, skin-on chicken pieces
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 cups barbecue sauce
How to make it:
- Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and heat the oven to 400°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil — this will make cleanup so much easier.
- Combine the salt and garlic powder in a small bowl. Place the chicken on the baking sheet, and season all over with the garlic powder mixture.
- Arrange the chicken skin-side down in a single layer, spacing them evenly apart. Roast for 25 minutes. Meanwhile, simmer the sauce.
- Place the barbecue sauce in a small saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a simmer. Simmer, stirring regularly, until reduced by about half, 20 to 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, remove the chicken from the oven. Increase the oven temperature to 450°F. Brush the chicken with the reduced sauce, flip the chicken over, and brush the skin and sides with sauce. Transfer to the BBQ.
- BBQ the chicken for 10 minutes, then brush with more sauce.
- BBQ until the chicken is sticky and darkened in spots, about 10 minutes more.
- Serve the chicken with any remaining reduced sauce.
Delicious – Enjoy!
